Max Mesiria Chp2 RPG

"Max Mesiria Chp2 RPG" is, simply, a marvel - from what have been revealed so far by Snails Animation on the Mesiria series, it looks like something very promising and can easily rival - or even surpass - some of the most highly acclaimed RPG titles of all time on SNES!

Ghost Breaker Badge (medium – 15 points)
Complete the second part of Gustave's adventure.

In this second chapter of the journey of Gustave, he can reach level 15 at most; depending on your playing style, you can either choose to rack him up a bit or rely more on the items. Follow the story and you should do fine, though if you are stuck in anywhere, you can always press Enter and view the "Hint" section.

And that's all I'm going to say about the main plot - I am a hardcore and have a very strict guideline on spoilers for myself. This is really a good game and deserves to be played through, not just walked through in an absence of mind.

Ultimate Monster Slayer Badge (impossible – 60 points)
Exert your dominance over 51 waves of evil creatures to complete Battle Mode.

"Battle Mode."

The two words that can squeeze sweat out of the most experienced batch of players.

People used to argue over which game has the hardest impossible badge, "Orbular" or "Streamline". But now it seems that the answer has been undisputedly settled upon this one.

Since it has been rather clear that luck plays a prominent role to your success over the Battle Mode, there can be no possible rigid walkthrough which gives you a full guarantee for beating it. I can hence only show you a collection of the most useful resources which may help you completing this challenge.

Battle Guide

The most detailed, and also the most useful guide on the Battle Mode available so far is the one written down by x1372 inside Kongregate's forum. In case the post has been lost, a copy can be found in here. This guide offers a whole lot of greatly optimized tactics and is basically a necessity for every Battle Mode challenger. Though like I said, depending on your luck, you may find things being either easier or harder than described by this guide, and you will want to make some minor adjustments to have it fit into your very own condition.

Battle Sequence

Below is a sequential list on what you can expect to encounter inside the Battle Mode:

► HP: 80
► HP: 90
► HP: 100
► HP: 115
► HP: 130
► HP: 145
► HP: 160
► HP: 175
► HP: 190
► HP: 210
► HP: 230
► HP: 250
► HP: 270
► HP: 290
► HP: 320

Full Bestiary

Here is the .sol file that contains the complete bestiary. Download and put it into the LSO directory of the game and you can read it from the Battle Mode screen; it's not the same with the bestiary you can view inside the main game. Or you can view it below:

► Bestiary #1 ~ 5
► Bestiary #6 ~ 10
► Bestiary #11 ~ 15
► Bestiary #16 ~ 20
► Bestiary #21 ~ 25
► Bestiary #26 ~ 27

Cheats?

Righto, what about cheats? Many of you probably be in here for this specific reason.

Aside from those two anti-cheat countermeasures we have introduced a few days ago, a third method which is popular among certain developers is to implement _root.values. This is a bad practice, from the perspective of coding, yet for some curious reasons, Cheat Engine is having problems scanning for any _root.values, and some game coders have been using this fact against Cheat Engine users. Which is exactly the method this game is using and also why you are seeing almost no people hacking it on Kongregate - because they are not able to. Though this is of course not the end of the story:

[How to Kongregate] Max Mesiria Chp2 RPG Battle Mode Walkthrough

The full video lasting 12 minutes can be downloaded here; these are all you will be getting from me on how to cheat inside the Battle Mode. No, it's not Cheat Engine, but you will have to discover how on yourself. The game has my respect already so you will not be learning that from me.

Your eyes are not having problems, it's real freaking six stars. This can't even explain how good it is, and how one would know when it's the next time we can see such a wonderful RPG title on the Flash platform that could match the Mesiria series.

As an extra, here is why I said it is rather lame for any Flash game that fails to feature any music. If you were having a sense of déjà vu when you were loading up "Bot Arena 3", that's actually not some illusion but good memory - the music in the main menu of "Bot Arena 3" is the same with the music of the final boss in the main plot of "Max Mesiria Chp2 RPG":

- ::: A Ghost Rider ::: by Jeremy Southern

And their respective developers happened to pick up and implement the same music - which is free. So now you see why those soundless games are lame, when there are so many free resources to choose from.

We'll end this article with my favorite musical pieces that have appeared inside the Mesiria series so far:

Max Mesiria Chp1 RPG

Being a damn RPG hardcore, I always believe that the Flash gaming community lacks the necessary environment to nurture some decent RPG creations; per se, lots of the game developers will want to have new projects being finished at most within a month to keep the cash flowing in continually from their sponsors, while most of the players being fuckingly immature teenage idle dickheads who do not appreciate any game that demands a few reading but only want to play something that can keep their fat juicy fingers busy on the mouse. It is hence a literal miracle, that heroes from Snails Animation have stood out now and been preparing to bring to us an epic tale, right beginning from its very first chapter - "Max Mesiria Chp1 RPG".

Boat Defender Badge (medium – 15 points)
Guide Gustave through the beginning of his adventure.

Actually, the original title of the game seems to be "Mesiria" only, as indicated by both the website of Snails Animation and the title screen of the game itself; the "Max" part likely comes from a later request by the sponsor (Max Games).

To simply put, the first chapter of the Mesiria series is straightforward and simple - an outstanding way to both produce and introduce a pilot. As a player, all you need to do to proceed toward the end of this chapter is to follow the story itself, as in all RPG games; unless you are really an RPG n00b, this shouldn't even be a point. The level of your character, Gustave, will encounter a hard-capped maximum at level 5 for this first chapter, so don't even bother with racking up; I just had another run of the game before writing this article and I went on without opening all the treasure chests and facing the final boss at level 4, but still out winning, so don't refuse to play it for some stupid reasons like "I fear RPG blah-blah", it is a pretty nice teaser for any people.

And yes, because it's only a teaser for the upcoming series, there are some minor flaws like no saving system, but the second chapter has presented a completed interface already. In case you have some complaints about this initial installment, it is highly recommended that you should load up Chapter 2 and check out how things have been improved, and for a longer and deeper story to enjoy, continuing right from the end of Chapter 1.

Gravitee

"Gravity and golf" is not a new combination; as early as 2003 there was a hit called "Doom Funnel Chasers!" already, which is one of my all time favorites, always trying to see if I could send the ball into stable orbits for certain levels. Being one among many that have tried to develop further upon this theme ever since, "Gravitee" still failed to meet my picky taste for a true masterpiece, yet I do reckon there are some recreational value it successfully brings.

Hitchhiker Badge (easy – 5 points)
Visit 30 planets.

Can't do this? Have a chick sucking your small dick and you will feel a fucking lot better.

Achievement Completionist Badge (hard – 30 points)
Complete every single last achievement possible.

"Putt" refers to the last hit which sends the ball into the hole, if you are having problem with that term. And platinum medals also count inside the gold medals achievement. Myself finished all the achievements "purely", and I have to say the longest putt achievement is somewhat luck dependent before you unlock the hole-in-one aim (which in turn can only be unlocked after all achievements have been accomplished). If you are having difficulty with any of the achievements, feel free to call up your .sol Editor.

Interstellar Golf Deity Badge (impossible – 60 points)
Guide your shots to their destinations without the help of shot-indicators to earn 10 platinum medals.

As someone already explained inside a separate comment, here is a quick video guide on .sol Editor:

Neat, nice, fun. We need more peaceful and educational games like this than some retarded shooters wholly for the gore.

Treasure of Cutlass Reef

Shits stealing way too much attention than they deserve has always been a major issue in the Flash gaming community; somehow though, I am afraid this is how things are destined to be, with so many players showing unreservedly how retarded they are as well. The whole impression with "Treasure of Cutlass Reef" just reminded me of "that brainless zombie shooter" - assfuckingly awful levels that keep growing longer and longer with not even the tiniest bit of new shits and lots of brainwashed fucktards praising it as "the best shits I've ever had with my dick".

Bloody Buccaneer Badge (easy – 5 points)
Crush 10 enemy vessels across all games in any difficulty setting.

Speaking about protecting .sol files with hashes, we've got an instance here right today, thanks to Mr. Greg. Well actually, this game uses checksum instead of hash, but the ideas are quite similar.

Scurvy Scallowag Badge (hard – 30 points)
Complete all 12 levels on the "admiral" difficulty setting.

So what does that mean? That means your modified .sol files will be blocked out by the built-in check of the game codes if you don't know how to produce the correct checksum for your modified values. I am not going to bother teaching you how, it's basically all about coding which I do not expect you to know or wanna learn anyway, hence you are recommended to use Cheat Engine as usual if you are having problems with this game:

Wow great, I mean, we need terrible garbage like this to keep the blog thriving with curses.

Turkey Fling

Edis Brothers seems pretty good at making holiday specials for some promotions; this time they have "Turkey Fling" for us, following that "Slingoween" thing on Halloween.

Freedom Flyer Badge (medium – 15 points)
As this game so beautifully illustrates, the pursuit of freedom is endless. Score 50,000 points.

This game is quite simple; since you can continue to fly as long as you are eating corns, you should invest all your initial momentum into the horizontal axis for a maximum travelling speed.

Bot Arena 3

Some of you probably have already watched my video guide for "Bot Arena 3" since Sunday and are waiting for this article, so here it is, finally.

Roboslayer Badge (easy – 5 points)
Lay waste to 10 opponents in career mode or challenge mode.

So someone has mentioned a while ago that this blog can serve as an important reference to all game coders. I really think not, because most likely those who are capable of coding will also have a rough idea on how to build up some basic anti-cheating checks, and chances are they didn't code them in simply because they do not care that much about cheating, as long as they are receiving damn good money from their sponsors. Still, we are going to explore two simple yet efficient countermeasures against hacking in our following paragraphs, if there really are clueless developers out there that are reading this blog.

Champion Robotics Engineer Badge (hard – 30 points)
Complete your fulfilling career as a master of all things mechanical.

Do we have any amateur coders here that think local shared objects are really a hassle? You need them to create a saving feature but are also fear of them being easily tweaked and hacked, like this?

One thing that will only take you a few minutes to do but can probably help you fending off more than 90% of .sol Editor users, is to create a hash - using MD5, SHA-1, etc. - out of all your variables that's gonna be stored inside the LSO, and put that hash inside the file, too, to be checked by your game when it is about to load up any save. It won't stop smartasses like me from decompiling your .swf and see what kind of hash algorithms you were using so to create the necessary hacking hash I need, but will be sufficient enough against most of the average guys always crying for helps out there.

Mechanical Samadhi Badge (hard – 30 points)
Be one with the robots. Master control of them, and complete all 7 challenges.

Trying to use text strings instead of numbers is a good idea, because most people who are using Cheat Engine just know about searching numbers; but the method has been proven powerless against real thinkers like, yes, me once again:

[How to Kongregate] "Bot Arena 3" Challenge 4 Modification

(For the hex segment mentioned inside the video, it goes as below.)

43 49 52 43 45 53 20 22 58 54 22 00 4B 55 52 4F 4E 20 22 53 48 52 45 44 2D 4D 4B 33 22 00 52 41 00 4F 4E

Now one of the methods being mentioned oftentimes to solve this issue is to employ a certain degree of obscurity like, using something as random as J97_IDdtH instead of CIRCES "XT", or dN92_p_oCCTy in place of KURON "SHRED-MK3", and recording the correlation down in some other isolated place. However, my own estimation is that all these shit jobs can probably block out only around 30% of hacking for you; there are still many other ways for us resourceful people to stitch out the correlation ourselves through the rest part of your codes, and chances are if someone knows how to decompile your file and locate those text strings at the first place, a little more extra analysis and deduction over your codes won't baffle him either.

Let's conclude this with a good question: what kind of players are the lamest?

I'd answer that with "whichever stupid scum that thinks changing a few integers with Cheat Engine is all about hacking and whichever fucking teenage idiota that thinks hacking is wrong." Just to think about how much information NSA, CIA, and the USA government in general are hacking around the world on a daily basis? Oh wait, they don't call it hacking - they call it information monitoring, homeland security ensuring, terrorist activity recognizing, etc. etc. Now anyone, please tell me where in the fuck you see anything wrong in that? We will be all dead if there are no hacking! The US will collapse under the evil threat from the terrorists and we will become plain farts! Hacking is vital for US, how the fuck can it be wrong?
